Usually, students are familiar with technology, computer software, and demonstrate a level of mastery associated with online navigation within their academics. Technology can be a motivator for some students who suffer from math anxiety. Tutorials in comprehending symmetry and fractions can be utilized by students, as well as, their families to assist with the students’ further development. Technology is a great medium for making this math skill accessible to all students, regardless of their current aptitude(s). Why incorporate technology in the lesson design featuring symmetry and fractions? Also, children associate symmetry with nature, with certain letters, and with elementary shapes. This mathematical journey permits the student to realize that symmetry is the first portal to identifying halves of a whole. Learners will also come to the recognition that two halves of a symmetrical object or image is identical. This exposure to three and two dimensional objects allows a child’s schema to process the concept of a mirror image. However, it is more conducive to introduce learners to symmetrical objects, as well as, symmetrical pictorial images. It is through play and exploration that natural curiosity allows for acquisition of mathematical representations in symmetry and fractions. Young children are exposed to concrete symbols that focus on geometrical shapes and proportions. Students are expected to acquire and master these representations during the formative years of development. Why focus on mathematical representations in symmetry and fractions?
